My Pet

The wide tar roads gave way to narrow ones of mud and gravel. The rain slowed down to a drizzle. My sparkling white Ford now a dull brown, slithered through the mud and came to a halt. I leapt out of the car and onto the mire. I laughed in glee as dirt splashed all over me. The air here was fresh and sweet, the kind only found outside the city. My pet opened the car door and stepped out. He knew how to do that. He’s the smartest pet ever.

“Wroof!” he said, tugging on my leash.

I obediently followed him.
